WAVL is a multi-division competition that provides an avenue for players of all levels to play competitive club volleyball. Unlike Junior League, divisions are arranged by skill level, not age, and are played at multiple venues on Sundays (and some Friday/Saturdays), from May to September. Divisions run from State League for WA’s best volleyball players to divisions for beginners and developing players. Southern Cross athletes are placed into teams based on their performance at club trials (typically in January to early Feb).
More information on WAVL is available from VWA here.
SCVC is very careful about our fee structure. To minimize cost to players, we determine the cost of game fees based on the number of players in each team. Game fees are also determined by VWA yearly, and therefore changes to fees are expected year to year.

As one of the oldest volleyball clubs in Perth, Southern Cross Volleyball Club has been providing volleyball opportunities in Perth for more than 25 years. We are proud to now extend a specific offering to players aged over 30, through the Southern Cross Masters Volleyball Club.
Southern Cross Masters Volleyball Club is aimed at keeping volleyballers playing our sport for longer, and bringing back players that may have left the sport or started playing much later in life.
In our first year (2023), we entered 2 men’s teams and 1 women’s team, and qualified in Division 1 for Men’s and Women’s in the WAVL Leagues. Across our playing group, half of the players are over 50, with the “most experienced’ aged 66, proving age is no barrier for competitive volleyball.
As the club grows, we will look at offering more services to the Masters community beyond WAVL, and working with Volleyball WA to retain players for longer and extend the demographic of the WA volleyball community.
Southern Cross Masters participates in the WA Volleyball League (WAVL). More information on WAVL is available from VWA here. We also have groups that play in World Masters Games (WMG), which has grades based on average ages in the team (i.e., 40+), so reach out if you are looking for a team in this high competition with like athletes.
